1912 PERFECT REEL TO COMMEMERATE THE

DIAMOND JUBILEE OF HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN

DIAMOND JUBILEE

Her Majesty Queen Elizebeth II came to the throne on 6 February 1952 and her coronation took place on 2 June 1953 in Westminster Abbey. The ceremony was broadcast on radio around the world and, at the Queen's request, on television for the first time.

The Queen celebrated her Silver Jubilee (25 years) in 1977 and her Golden Jubilee (50 years) in 2002. The only other British monarch to reach the Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897.

This limited edition reel is just one of the many activities to mark the occasion; a Diamond Jubilee Pageant will take place at Windsor Castle in May 2012, followed by a range of events over the holiday weekend in June, including a River Pagaent on the Thames and the lighting of the 2012 beacons throughout the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

This reel is designed and manufactured at Hardy Bros., Alnwick, England. It is a Limited Edition of 250 reels worldwide. Hand assembled and inspected by Hardy Master Reel-makers. Red Agate line guard set in a handmade Nickel Silver bezel. Commemorates the centenary of the famous 1912 Hardy Perfect check mechanism. Commemorates the Queen's Diamond Jubilee (June 2012). It is also commemorative of the 140 year anniversary of Hardy. Has Ivorine handle knob. World ranging world renowned Trout Click Check system. Reel weighs 5.92 ozs. Supplied with a commemorative limited edition collectors Hardy Bros medalion. Handmade black leather reel case. Takes DT5, DT6, WF5, WF6, WF7 lines.

Diamond Jubilee Reel is 3 1/4"- $2400.

THE 1912 PATTERN CHECK

The 1912 pattern check is thought by many to be the most attractive of all the many different styles of check, fitted to the Perfect reel, although the reason for its introduction was probably because the owners had experienced trouble with the early mechanisms jamming in use. The new check introduced a 'floating' pawl, connected via a spring to a brass lever. A twist of the

regulator was all that was needed to set the drag using this remarkably elegant mechanism.
