Classic & Artistic Salmon Flies

by Sebastian Letelier

Biography

Sebastian Letelier was born December 28th, 1979 in Santiago, Chile. Art was always present in his family, especially
from his parents, so this child grew in an environment full of art which influenced him later when he grew up and became
a man.  The Fly Fishing was an early passion and hobby too, and finally these two passions: Fine Art and Fly Fishing
have been joined in his life.

In 1993, the 13 year old Sebastian met Mr. Adrian Dufflocq and his family who run the famous "Cumilahue Lodge", who
has been an important influence and friend for Sebastian in his artistical and technical development in fly fishing, beside
the friendship between them both. It was in Dufflocq's home where Sebastian saw for the first time those beautiful and
colorful classic salmon flies done by Rogan of Donegal, these streamer flies tied by Adrian Dufflocq. Since then this
young boy has been tying Salmon flies artistic and classic....many of them treasured by angler's that he has met
working as a guide.

At the age of thirteen, Sebastian worked as a salesman at a fly fishing shop. At sixteen, he became a guide for "Rios
azules" Company, owned by brothers, Cristian and Marcelo Dufflocq and Claudio Pumarino. Sebastian was the youngest
guide, and is still successfully working as a guide int he Chilean Patagonia during the summer periods.

In 2000, Sebastian studied Fine Arts, Drawing and Painting with the Spanish painter and teacher Martin Soria, who
teaches in the same tradition of the renowned Royal Academy of San Fernando, where he was trained as a painter in the
early 70's. Martin changed his view in the Fine Arts appreciation, showing him philosophical, technical and aesthetical
aspects of the European painting. Since 2004, Sebastian has been Soria's helper and works at Soria's Academy,
teaching pictorial procedures and classic methods of painting.Sebastian still in training at the Academy, also creating
Flies and Fine Art Works. And as you can see by his work, is becoming a Fine Artist in his own.

Artistic Salmon Flies

"I tie them, just one time, each fly."
They are "One of a Kind" and very Collectable and Gorgeous!

All hooks are hand made, Spanish silkworm gut for eye, Japanese silk and French Tinsels. Many of the feathers are hard to find, which are from beautiful exotic birds from different corners around the world. These have been gathered through the years. They are all legal. Sebastian would never contribute to the harm of any species. All flies come with letter of authenticity and are numbered. The body is tapered with white silk underbody first, I comment on this because it is an important detail that demands more work but gives a special aesthetic to the piece. The Fly is tied on both sides, as should be done, and I show close-ups of both sides. These flies are framed on a beautiful native Chilean hardwood called Manio, and the fly is personally mounted by Sebastian. Please give us a call and we will give you details of the materials used to create this Fine Work and also how to take care of it.
